Bug Of The Year (SLJ)

Hello everyone. Today, as part of the Summer Learning Journey, I have created this bug of the year activity. I have chosen a Chorus Cicade as my bug. For this activity, I first had to watch a video called “Yucky Bugs?” Then, I had to explore “Mini Beasts and Bug”. On that site, I read all about bugs. Did you know that Cicadas are the world’s loudest insects? Anyway, I then learnt some more about bugs and I looked at some insect profiles. If you want to go on the sites or watch the videos, Here are the links:

Once I had finished reading all about bugs, I made a copy of a google drawing and filled it out. I had to write in the Chorus Cicadas Diet, Habitat, Size, Life cycle and more. I added in some photos of the bug, then it was time to put it on my blog. Here is my Bug Profile about Chorus Cicadas. What is your favourite insect/bug? Tell me in the comments.

Silhouette Art (SLJ)

Hello everyone. Today, as part of the Summer Learning Journey, I have created this Silhouette Art design. To do this, I first had to watch a video on the Summer Learning Journey blog, called “Easy Silhouette Ideas”. Here is the link to the video if you want to watch it yourself:
Easy Silhouette Ideas, Video
Then, I had to watch a video called “Sunset Silhouette Paintings”. Here is the video if you want to watch it yourself:
Sunset Silhouette Paintings, Video
Once I had watched both videos, I made this silhouette picture. First, I made a slideshow and added in the photos. Then I got an image of a sunset and added it into the background of the photos. When I had finished all of that, I posted it onto my blog. What I found the most fun was trying to take a photo of my dog while he stayed still, because he kept moving. I had to get a treat and hold it up for him so that he would lie down when I told him to and also so that he would look up. I still really enjoyed it though. Here is my photo:

I also decided to do a painting of a silhouette. I had just bought some new paints, so I thought it was perfect to do a painting as well. If you want to do the painting yourself, go onto the “Sunset Silhouette Paintings, Video” link that I have put in the description near the top. It took me a couple of hours to finish this painting, and it was very fun. Here is an image that I took of my painting:

Cipher and Code (SLJ)

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I have been away on holiday! Today, as part of the Summer Learning Journey, I have created this Cipher and Code slide. As part of this, you will need to work out what my favourite places to go in the Summer time are. Did work the codes out? What is your favourite place to go in the Summer time? Tell me in the comments.

Tessellations (SLJ)

As part of the Summer Learning Journey, I have created these Regular Tessellations. Regular Tessellations are shapes where all their sides are the same length. This means that lots of that one shape can go together without any gaps. First, I had to watch a video called Tessellations with shapes. Then I had to watch a second video called Regular Tessellations. Here are the links to the videos:
Tessellations with Shapes: Video
Regular Tessellations: Video
Once I had watched both videos, I went onto a site called “Polypad”. Once I was on the site, I made the Tessellations below. If you want to go onto the Polypad site, here is the link:
Polypad
When I had created the Tessellations, I then took screenshots of them and put them in my blog post. I found making the Tessellations was slightly hard and fun at the same time. It was hard because I had to choose the right shapes to fill up all of the gaps. I found it fun because it was really satisfying when all of the shapes just went together. Which of these Tessellations is your favourite?
Here are my Tessellations:

Rebus Puzzle: Step it up (SLJ)

As part of the Summer Learning Journey, I have created this Rebus Puzzle Activity. For this, I first had to watch a video to solve puzzles before the timer ran out. Some of them were tricky and some of them were easier. Secondly, I had to solve some Emoji Rebus Puzzles myself. They are quite fun. And lastly, I had to create my own Rebus Puzzles for you to work out. Look on the slides below, and try to work out all of the Puzzles (the slide also tells you how to do them if you don’t know how). Good luck solving! Tell me in the comments if you managed to solve any!:
