On Tuesday, I went to the library to learn about Neuro Science. Mrs Berryman’s daughters are called Ashley and Charlie, and they were the two people that came to school and taught us about Neuro Science. First, we named all the parts of the brain and what they did. Secondly, we went over to Charlie and she put these cat ears on us. Whenever we thought hard about something, the ears would twitch. It was really cool! After that, we went to these upside down goggles. Our group (Me, India, Willow, Lexie, Ainsley, Eva and Emelia) all took turns putting them on. It made everything look upside down and it was super trippy. Then there were containers of rice and Ashley put different objects into them. We took turns closing our eyes and picking out an object from the dry rice. Then we had to try guess what it was. There was about 6 or 7 different items that we had to guess. That was the end. I think Neuro Science it really cool!
Netball Visit
On Friday, the New Zealand men’s netball team came to Putahi Belfast school. Their team is called the Net Blacks. I am part of the Year 6 Netball team, so we got to go over to the junior campus to meet them. There was a school Hui, and all of the Year 1-4’s were there. The year 6 netball team (me) introduced there self’s saying their name and their position. After the Hui, we went with the Net Blacks to do some netball drills with them. It went really well. India and Kendall even got interviewed! We all got onto the news showing us doing our netball drills with the Net Blacks. After the drills, we all got netballs and t-shirts signed. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my netball, so I got a piece of paper from the classroom before we walked over to the junior campus. I got all of their signatures, and I think it was really cool! Overall, it was an absolutely amazing day!
Athletics Day
On Thursday, the year 5-8’s had their athletics day. I like athletics day because everybody can get outside and be super active. I love high jump and long jump. In long jump, I jumped 3.34 metres. I came third, so I might go to zones for that. For high jump, I made it over 1 metre, and then we ran out of time, so I only got to have 1 jump for 1.05. Next Tuesday or Wednesday, I get to have the rest of my jumps, and if I make it over, I might get to go to zones for high jump. In long distance, we ran 1 km. I came fourth, which is okay. For the 60 metre and the 80 metre sprints, I came fourth. I am not good at sprinting so I am not surprised that I only came fourth. For both discus and shotput, I did pretty badly, but overall I think it was a fantastic day! Another one of my favourite parts, was when we did long distance. Mr Gold thought we did so good, so he gave the year 6 girls (which is me) a 6/5! For all the others, we got 5’s, so we got 31/30. The year 6 girls won and we got to go out to play 15 minutes early. I really enjoyed athletics day, and I hope you did too.

Spring Boat – Spring Learning Journey Activity
As part of the Spring Learning Journey, I made a boat out of egg cartons. We had to make a cool spring themed sale on top. I made a sunset inspired sale with the words “Spring Boat” on it. Here is a picture of my boat:
The Ugly Duckling
The Ugly Duckling
Once upon a time, there was a peaceful pond surrounded by leaves and bushes. The pond was glistening from the gleaming sun.
Along the pond bank, laid a nest full of small eggs. Inside were beautiful ducklings. The mother came to her 4 eggs, and sat on them. She was so proud of what she had made.
A couple weeks later, while the mother duck was coming to her babies, they all hatched one by one. After 5 minutes, all of them had hatched. Well all of them except for one.
After a day had passed, the last little egg finally hatched. The mother was so excited! She couldn’t help but notice that this last little duckling looked different to all her others.
Unlike all his other siblings (who were yellow or white), this duckling was grey. All of his brothers and sisters always bullied him because he was different. One day the Ugly Duckling decided he had enough.
The Ugly duckling ventured through the woods to find his forever home. While looking, he found another pond full of graceful swans. They welcomed him in, showering him with gifts and love.
Months passed and the Ugly Duckling started to feel prettier. He looked in the water, seeing his reflection. He was a beautiful swan!
Netball Centrals
Kia Ora,
I am in the Belfast Netball team Zones. In zones, we came 2nd so we got to go to centrals. In centrals we had 7 games. We only won 1 game, but we lost by 1 goal a couple of times. In one of the games, there was this girl (she was an A) and she was very tall (I was defending her). If I was in front of her, one of her teammates could pass to her, and she would reach over me and get the ball. Near the end of the game, I got two intercepts from her and we got the goal that round. I had a really good time playing netball, and it is my favourite sport.
Math Week/Market Day
Kia Ora,
For market day, Kupenga made some Lemonade, Little Chocs and Marshfellows. I was in the Marshfellows group. They are called Marshfellows because they are marshmellows with sprinkles as hair and chocolate chip eyes. Lexie and I were in charge of making the Marshfellows Poster, while some other people were making the marshfellows. For the poster, we first did some ideas on a little piece of paper. We had a couple ideas but we decided to do my idea with two big marshfellows on the left side and then the words: Marsh-Fellows on the right side. I was drawing the marshfellows on the side and Lexie was drawing the writing. She did these really cool bubble letters with the words. We had to get a roll of paper and cut off a BIG piece of paper. I drew the marshfellows huge and I had to draw every individual sprinkle and it took two days for Lexie and I to finish drawing and colouring it. Once we finished, we dyed the background yellow and I think it really matched. After that, we helped make the last of the Marshfellows, and then it was Market Time! I really enjoyed market and it was super fun!
NED Visit
Kia Orana,
Today we went into the tauhokai and a guy called Alex was there. He talked to us about N.E.D. It stands for N: Never give up. E: Encourage others. And D: Do your best. While he was teaching us about trying hard things, he was doing really cool yoyo tricks. I really liked when he did some magic. Like for example he had some ropes tied in a circle shape and then he magically made all of them tie together. Personally I liked the show and I think other people will too!
